About the Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support our internal finance and client service teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their accounting career who is looking to gain hands-on experience across compliance, reporting, and financial administration. Reporting to senior accountants, you’ll be instrumental in helping ensure the smooth operation of month-end processes and client deliverables in a fast-paced professional services setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with preparation and entry of month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist in maintaining accurate trial balances
  • Prepare BAS, payroll summaries, and assist with year-end compliance reporting
  • Use Xero, MYOB, and similar accounting software for recordkeeping and transaction processing
  • Support business accountants with preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance obligations are met
  • Assist in tracking cash flow and providing general financial administrative support
  • Liaise with team members to resolve queries and contribute to process improvements
  • Provide ad hoc assistance with internal and client-focused projects as required
Ideal Candidate:
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or currently undertaking relevant studies)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar accounting support role, ideally within a professional services or accounting firm
  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB, or similar software
  • Sound understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting cycles
  • High attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented attitude
  • A willingness to learn and develop in a structured, mentorship-driven environment
