HR Manager | People & Culture Manager
This is a newly created leadership position for a professional who wants to own the People & Culture function end-to-end. You will be joining a mid-sized Brisbane CBD firm that is currently navigating a period of internal change and preparing for a team merger.
The Managing Partner is looking for a strategic peer to take full control of the HR roadmap. This isn't a role for someone who wants to follow a manual; it’s for someone who wants to write it. You will be expected to lead with your expertise, acting as a guide for the Partners rather than waiting for instructions.
What you will own
You will lead the cultural and operational integration as the firm merges teams, ensuring a unified and high-performing identity.
You will design the long-term professional development framework for the firm, mapping out clear internal progression paths from junior levels through to leadership.
You will have total autonomy to audit current operations and implement your own standards for workplace safety and HR compliance from the ground up.
You will provide direct leadership and mentorship to internal HR support staff, with the authority to design your own team structure.
You will act as a commercial advisor, providing expert people-related guidance to the firm’s external client base as an extension of their professional services.
You will be empowered to identify business bottlenecks and use your strengths to disrupt any legacy processes that are stalling the firm’s ability to scale.
The Ideal Profile
You have at least 5 years of experience in a generalist or manager role, specifically within professional services like Accounting or Law.
You are comfortable in a mid-market environment where you can be both a high-level strategist and a hands-on fixer.
You lead with your expertise and have the technical confidence to provide direct, unfiltered advice to Partners.
You are naturally self-directed and thrive in a role where you are the primary decision-maker for your department.
Culture and Benefits - A salary package between $100,000 and $165,000 plus super, depending on your level of experience.
- A flexible job title, such as HR Manager or People & Culture Manager.
- Life and income protection insurance under a comprehensive group policy.
- Community Service Leave to support charities and not-for-profits.
- Practical career development including financial support and leave for further study.
- A high-trust environment in a newly refurbished CBD office with a modern hub.
- A paid phone plan and an active reward and recognition program throughout the year.
- A social culture with regular team functions and access to national event programmes.
We are looking for the right person, not just the right piece of paper. If you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t perfectly align with every single point listed, we still want to hear from you. We value diverse perspectives and the unique strengths that different backgrounds bring to a leadership role.
