Are you a driven and experienced accountant looking to take the next step in your public practice career? Our client, a respected mid-tier accounting firm located in the heart of Brisbane CBD, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their professional and collaborative team.
  
The Role: What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients and working directly with Managers and Partners on high-value compliance and advisory engagements. This is a hands-on role that combines technical accounting work with client relationship management and team leadership responsibilities.
  
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review complex financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
  • Conduct detailed tax planning for clients, identifying opportunities for tax minimisation and business structuring
  • Prepare and review BAS, FBT, and payroll tax lodgements
  • Provide business advisory services, including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and cash flow analysis
  • Review work prepared by junior accountants and provide technical support, coaching, and feedback
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure a high level of service and proactively address their needs
  • Assist Managers and Partners with the delivery of special projects such as business restructures, due diligence, succession planning, and business valuations
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant tax laws, accounting standards, and internal quality control procedures
  • Manage workflow, delegate tasks, and monitor job budgets and timelines
  
About You: What You’ll Bring
  • At least 4 years of experience in Australian public practice
  • CA or CPA qualified (or close to completion)
  • Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation and financial reporting standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients
  • Sound knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB AE, APS, or similar
  • Proven experience reviewing the work of junior staff and contributing to their development
  • A professional, proactive approach and a genuine interest in helping clients grow and succeed
