About the Firm We are a highly respected, established national law firm with over 20 years of excellence in providing premium legal services across Australia. As part of our ongoing growth, we are looking to expand our established Criminal Law practice in Queensland. About the Role We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Senior Associate to lead and grow our Criminal Law team in Brisbane. This position offers a rare combination of hands-on, high-level casework and long-term practice management. Supported directly by our Sydney-based National Practice Director and Practice Leader (both Accredited Specialists), you will have the autonomy to shape the practice with a clear trajectory toward a Practice Leader position long-term. Key Responsibilities:
Advocacy & Advice: Provide expert legal advice and court representation on complex criminal law matters from inception to resolution.
Practice Leadership: Manage and grow the Queensland Criminal Law division, participating in national executive strategy meetings and overseeing financial targets.
Mentorship & Supervision: Guide, mentor, and supervise junior solicitors and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Drafting & Operations: Produce high-quality legal documents, court submissions, and develop precedents/policies in alignment with national standards.
Business Development: Actively contribute to market growth and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
About You
Experience: 5+ years PAE in Criminal Law, with a strong background handling complex matters and court proceedings.
Leadership Ability: Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior lawyers with a strong desire to step into a formal management position.
Skills: Strong advocacy, analytical drafting, and business acumen with exceptional client relationship skills.
Qualifications: Specialist Accreditation in Criminal Law is highly desirable (or a willingness to achieve it with firm support).

Salary Package:$180,000 – $200,000 package (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
